Let’s face it (no pun intended) you want your face looking radiant and flawless on the day of your shoot. However, we don’t always have the luxury of time when it comes to bookings. I have about 3 days notice for my next SIGNY photoshoot! Instead of crawling into a ball and crying about how unfair life is, I thought I’d sit down and do something slightly more productive. I’m sharing my process on how I prepare to put my best face forward in a short amount of time.
There are only three things women need in life: food, water, and compliments. – Chris Rock
That’s me. Especially the compliments and the fact that I’m continually setting reminders to drink water only to hit snooze until my phone dies. It would be wonderful if we were all perfectly hydrated, but I’m guessing you’re body isn’t getting enough. You’ll want to aim for six 8 to 12-ounce servings of water and an additional two glasses of water minimum throughout the day. Start this now! Maybe you’ll even start a habit of drinking more water!
The word diet brings up more issues than vogue so think of this more of a photoshoot lifestyle. I follow a Paleo diet and tend to eat salmon daily. When I know I have a shoot approaching I will bump up my salmon intake. A great diet to follow leading up to your shoot is Dr. Perricone’s 3-Day Diet. He says “Eating salmon twice a day allows for the benefits of the DMAE, astaxanthin and essential fatty acids in the salmon to take effect, the essential fatty acids and antioxidants in salmon are what helps make skin appear supple, radiant and glowing).” Amen! I’ve been using a loose version of this for years. But you’ll NEVER catch me without my morning coffee so make it your own. Make sure you’re balancing your caffeine with uping your water intake. It’s tough for me to eat two meals a day most days because I’m always on the go. I recommend Koia Meal Replacement Drinks. They are delicious and have 19 grams of plant protein!
I have a daily Collagen routine that I do year-round. Supplementing with Collagen will vastly improve your skin, hair, nails, and even gut health. My favorite is Vital Proteins Collagen. I add two scoops to my morning coffee. It dissolves easily and there is no flavor. If anything, it makes my coffee a little creamier.
Cut those carbs down! If you’re looking to de-puff a few days before a shoot you’ll want to limit your carb intake. All that water you’re drinking won’t be stored as water weight if you’re limiting your carbs. Don’t worry, it’s not forever. I’m the queen of eating a big gluten-free/vegan donut after a shoot. #treatyoself #moderation
If you know me, you know my obsession with Korean Beauty and Skincare Products. We should all step aside and just let them monopolize the skincare industry. No one knows skincare better.

Sheet Masks as needed throughout the week. I always do a sheet mask the night before a shoot and sometimes the morning of the shoot. Protip: If you’re eyes or face feels puffy I recommend an ice facial before you do makeup. Simply grab an ice cube and gently run it under your eyes and over your face. You’ll want to keep moving or it can sting your skin. Ice facials have really helped me in a pinch!
